Participation
We encourage participation by those interested in the interface between statistical mechanics and combinatorics and those whose work has been associated with that of Tony Guttmann. Some financial assistance is available to early career researchers (see below).
Talks
This workshop will include a number of talks designed to stimulate cross fertilization been statistical mechanics and combinatorics. Talks will be by invitation only. A significant amount of programme time will be allocated to discussion workshops for all participants. A break in the programme will be scheduled for Wednesday 13th July for a trip to the Great Barrier Reef (see below).

These accommodation prices include full buffet breakfast, 3 course table d'hote or themed buffet dinner, and many island activities.
Participants will need to make their own bookings, preferably by email to groups@voyages.com.au, or by fax to
+61 2 9339 1024. Please quote Booking Number: #99082909 and specify "Counting Complexity Conference" to ensure you receive the discount group rate. Please also include your preferred accommodation, preferred dates (for most people these will be the evenings of 10-14 July inclusive), arrival and departure details and your credit card details, which are essential to guarantee the booking. Accommodation is subject to availability at the time of booking.
Members of the Australian Mathematical Society are entitled to an additional $50 off the cost of their accommodation. If you are a member, please note this when booking your room.
If a booking cancellation is received between 15 - 30 days prior to arrival, one nights accommodation will be charged as a cancellation fee. If a cancellation is received within 14 days prior, a full cancellation fee for all accommodation held will apply.
Each room accommodates 2-3 people, so to minimise your own costs and to avoid overbooking we encourage you to share. If you would like to be put in contact with someone else willing to share, please contact Emma Lockwood at E.Lockwood@ms.unimelb.edu.au.
There is also a campsite located a 10-15 minute walk from the conference centre, which costs $4 per night for a maximum of five nights. For further information about this, please contact the resort directly on (07) 4068 8199.
Participants also have the option of staying at Mission Beach and taking a boat to and from Dunk Island each day. A one-way boat trip takes approx. 20 minutes. Talks and activities will be scheduled so that participants can catch the first and last boats without missing anything.
All participants will need to register with the conference organisers (see above).
Great Barrier Reef Trip
A break in the programme has been scheduled for Wednesday 13th July for an optional boat trip to Beaver Cay on the Great Barrier Reef. The boat will depart from Dunk Island at 11am and return at 4:30pm.
If you would like to book a place on this trip, please advise groups@voyages.com.au when booking your accommodation. There is a charge of $140 per adult and $70 per child. The cost includes tea, coffee and a buffet lunch, the glass bottom boat tour, and the use of snorkel equipment.
Financial Assistance
Australian early career researchers (e.g. postdocs and higher degree research students) who would have difficulty meeting the travel and accommodation costs are encouraged to apply for financial assistance to attend the conference. Substantial funds are available. Climate
The average daily maximum temperature at Dunk Island in July is 25 degrees Celsius / 77 degrees Fahrenheit.
Getting there
Dunk Island is a short flight from Cairns international airport. Cairns is readily accessible from other major cities in Australia. For further information see Dunk Island Information.
Macair Airlines, who provide the air service to Dunk Island from Cairns, have arranged two charter flights for participants of this conference. These are now both booked out. As of 20 May 2005, seats are still available on the following public flights:
