Forty years and still counting
Tony Guttmann has been counting objects of interest in statisticalmechanics for something like forty years. He is best known for his work on designing ingenious algorithms for enumerating embeddings ofgraphs in lattices, using these counts to obtain coefficientsin series expansions of interesting physical quantities, and inventing, developing and using series analysis techniques to estimate asymptotic behaviour. More recently he has made important contributionsto the interface between statistical mechanics and combinatorics. This talk will outline several problems on which Tony has worked, comment on Tony's contributions, and highlight some open questions.
